Like a Nancy Meyers Dinner Party
Cordelia & Joe in Love Forever
When Cordelia sent me an inquiry for her and Joe’s wedding and celebration at Stissing House, it was love at first sight:
“Our vision is a raucous dinner party vibe, almost like a more quirky Nancy Meyers situation. We are pretty informal people (though we want everyone to wear their most festive party clothes) and are looking to have our wedding feel as unfussy as possible. As far as photos, we love a more documentary style, nothing uptight!”
For those who are unfamiliar with Stissing House — nestled in Pine Plains, a single-stoplight hamlet in the Hudson Valley; imagine a 1700’s tavern, laden with hand hewn wooden beams and crooked wide planked floors. Chef Clare de Boer’s food is comforting and honest, rooted in local and seasonal ingredients. And don’t let me forget to mention the candles — there are taper candles literally everywhere. My favorite touches? The cloche of butter present at each dinner service and the bowls of peanuts still in their shell in the fireplace room — and don’t get me started about their martini served alongside a second helping from what was left in the shaker.
