Timeless New York Wedding on Film
Jess & Kevin in Love Forever
When Jess first reached out to me about photographing her + Kevin’s NYC City Hall wedding and subsequent celebrations at Gramercy Tavern and Sunday in Brooklyn, it was an immediate yes for me. I’ve admired Jess and the world she’s crafted for her brand, Palermo for so long. Jess also had an immediate draw to film photography and Super8 films, something made even more apparent when I spent time with her and Kevin at home on the morning of their wedding — with heirloom photographs of family members tucked in frames throughout their apartment.
Jess + Kevin’s wedding photographs were so much more than just documenting their wedding day, it was also about documenting the life they’ve built together in New York City — from meeting at while working together at Gramercy Tavern to making a home together in Brooklyn with their cat, Dave. Their wedding photographs serve so much more than documenting the day they made things New York official ahead of their Sicilian wedding, but also serve as a love letter to the life they’ve created together.
And just like and New York City Hall wedding day, Jess + Kevin posed amongst the green window seats and were showered in petals by their family and friends when they made their exit — and also like any New York City wedding, the day had some delightful surprises in store, too. From finding ourselves alone in our own subway car on our way to their reception (perfect for some post-ceremony portraits) to catching a cotton candy colored sunset on Hudson River (we don’t need to go into the crazy wind that was blowing trash all over the streets during this sunset, though that was also very on brand with celebrating in the city).
Jess + Kevin in love forever, one of my very favorite days, and officially making the argument that all wedding days should include cats!
